Sarah Palin's Styles Revealed

With the nation's eyes (and lenses) turned to Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, it's no wonder her fashion has become instantly influential.Hair to heels, people want what she's wearing, and they want it before it goes out of style. The first beneficiary of the Palin craze seems to be eyeglass manuracturer Kazuo Kawasaki, whose distinct rimless frames have become a hot item. For those curious, the Kawasaki frames (style 704, color 34) retail for $375.Amy Hahn, vice president of Italee Optics Inc., the brand's U.S. distributor, told the Wall Street Journal that demand quadrupled for the frames almost overnight. And while it seems obvious that hair dressers would start hearing requests for the Palin up-do, wigsalon.com is reaping the benefits of the high demand for Palin-like wigs. The site has a page dedicted to "The Sarah Palin Style Wig," and offers customers a choice between the "Valentine" wig at $114.75 or the "Bargain Sarah Palin Wig" at $46.On its Web site, wigsalon.com says all it takes is "some eyeglasses and a few bobby pins" to turn its "Valentine" wig into the perfect Palin approximation. In the same WSJ article, New York stylist John Barrett says clients are requesting the style because it shows off the cheekbones."I can't emphasize enough how her angled bangs and hair color are so beautifully executed," he told the WSJ. Palin's clothing has set shoppers questing for her jackets and shoes as well. Naughty Monkey shoes are aimed at a mid-20s demographic with its pumps more suited to the club set than the hockey mom set. But that didn't stop Palin from donning the red peep-toe Naughty Monkey pumps at the Republican National Convention. The company sent out an email promoting the unexpected appearance with a slogan proclaiming "I vote for Naughty Monkey!"Even one of Palin's old haunts in Anchorage, AK, is getting in on the action. Second-hand store Out of the Closet posted a blog entry boasting its close ties to the Alaska governor. The entry reads:"We are thrilled that our favorite Governor is making such a name for herself on the national stage! Go Girl! We love seeing you in your Out of the Closet duds!"High-profile politicians have always been the subject of style scrutiny. Hillary's pantsuits, Cindy McCain's towering collars and Michelle Obama's played-down style have all been given thorough examinations (in McCain's case revealing a $300 thousand price tag).Do the fashions of the powerful and trendy influence any of your style choices?
